To begin with a question, will there be existing a livable earth after 2050? Human induced climate change has already started unleashing calamities in different parts of the world, for example recent flash flood at Sylhet in Bangladesh & disastrous flood in Pakistan clearly implying signs of catastrophes incumbent upon mankind sooner than later. The consequences of the climate change will be manifold. Greenhouse Gas Emission is increasing the global warming at a lightning speed that is leading to ice melting from both poles. The inland glaciers are also melting that is causing to desiccate rivers since most of the rivers are fountained from the glaciers spearheading to the scarcity of freshwater for drinking, absorbing or agriculture. As the agriculture will be disrupted for the lack of water, it will drastically raise food crisis all across the globe. Lack of water & food crisis may provide all the sparks for the poor or developing or third world countries to involve into full scale of wars erupting into the bouts of bloodshed.
Ice melting because of global warming will rise the sea level from two to three meters at the back end of this century. A swathes of land from all parts of the world will go under the seawater creating the movie ‘’Water World’’ into a harsh reality. Already some island nations in the Indo-Pacific regions like Maldives, Tonga, Funafuti are losing their lands to the oceans and the people from those lands stand to suffer the most & undoubtedly they will be left in the lurch & at the verge of extinct. In defiance of all the nonchalance of the world leaders instead of attending general assembly of the United Nations the President of Funafuti addressed the whole world standing into knee-deep seawater. A true maverick.
Henceforth, I am supposed to bring to the fore & disseminate what is going to happen in context of Bangladesh. Estimates show that 35% land from the coastal region of Bangladesh will be inundated & go under seawater. The people from the coastal districts of Sathkhira, Bagerhat, Khulna, Barguna & Patuakhali are already facing severe impacts of concomitant tidal surges. The loss of lands into the sea will create a huge amount of internal & external migration. A gigantic influx will take place towards other regions, specially towards Dhaka. The influx will also deteriorate the climate & environmental stability in the respective regions.
Now, let’s find out what are the actual reasons of the human induced climate change? Who are mostly responsible for environmental disaster?
For centuries, specially the developed countries emitted GHG to run industries, factories and businesses. Still the emission is in full swing. To reap more & more profit we have been totally destructive to the environment. Forests are being destroyed indiscriminately, rivers are dumped with industrial wastes, coal fired power plants are among many other reasons of environmental disaster.
Enterprise 360 Limited based on 3P (Planet, People, Profit) has come forward with research & consultancy on how to develop business without harming environment. Enterprise 360 works on upholding sustainability of environment along with business development for the broader sake of the people. The institute mainly focuses on collaborating data and facts over the 3P motto. One of the fundamental goals of Enterprise 360 is to promote the United Nations announced Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). We put sheer significance on all the 17 SDG goals eyeing to send the message to every citizen living even to the remote corner of our country. Among the 17 points, 13. Climate action, 14. Life under water & 15. Life on land, are our priority issue since this three points outright relate to climate & environment.
